Pacific-City
is located in south Tillamook County, almost exactly halfway between Lincoln City and Tillamook. It is less than a two-hour drive from Portland. Pacific City is not really a city, but an unincorporated seaside village where approximately sixty percent of the homes are second homes. This means the population varies anywhere from around 400 to 900 residents, depending on the time of the year. It's situated along one of the most beautiful - and most photographed - areas on the Oregon Coast. Beautiful beaches stretch in the shadow of Cape Kiwanda and are capped by the huge Haystack Rock just offshore. Pacific City is known for its fishing - for salmon and winter steelhead in the Big Nestucca River right in the middle of town or for trout in the Town Lake on the northern edge of the town. Crabbing and clamming are also popular in Pacific City. There are three beach accesses in the town: one at Bob Straub Park, another at the end of Pacific Avenue and the third from the Cape Kiwanda parking lot. The latter is also where you'll find the Cape Kiwanda Marine Gardens with tidal pools and interesting sandstone formations. Things to do include beachcombing, sandcastle building, kite flying, surfing, hang gliding and parasailing and picnicking. There is a bike path that runs through town and many hiking and backpacking trails in the area and two golf courses within a ten minute drive. Boating, canoeing and kayaking are all available on the Big Nestucca. Pacific City also has lots of gift shops, galleries, antique shops and several fine restaurants - definitely something for everyone, including doing nothing at all except enjoy the scenery.

The North Coast Region of Oregon has a climate with strong marine influences. Summers are generally cool and winters are moderate. Westerly winds are predominant from the northwest during the summer and from the southwest in the winter. These winds from the ocean bring heavy rainfall in winter and fog in the summer. The Oregon Pacific coastal zone is characterized by wet winters, relatively dry summers and mild temperatures all year. Along the lower elevations on the immediate coast, annual precipitation is between 65 to 90 inches, but on higher elevations on the west slopes, it can be up to 200 inches. Several days of abundant rainfall can cause floods. Snowfall on the coast is minimal. Extreme high or low temperatures are rare.
