Tierra-Del-Mar
is a secluded, little known village located on the Oregon Coast about 20 miles north of Lincoln City and 25 miles south of Tillamook. Also referred to as "Pacific City," Tierra del Mar is right off scenic Highway 101, overlooking Cape Kiwanda on the Three Capes Scenic Loop. Hundreds of years ago, a large Indian village was located here, with Chief Kiwanda being their leader, and many Indian mounds and other artifacts can still be found in the area. Tierra del Mar is small, but has three restaurants, including a popular pub, two golf courses and beautiful beaches where you can walk for miles without seeing another soul. Other local attractions include Cape Kiwanda State Park, Haystack Rock, located just offshore at Tierra del Mar, and the other two Capes - Cape Meares and Cape Lookout. Fishing is part of the rich tradition of Tierra del Mar, and other activities include hiking, beachcombing, surfing, horseback riding on the beach, dory boat rides and scenic drives along the coast exploring the other quaint seaside towns of the area. Birdwatching is also popular in the Tierra del Mar area, with one of the largest colonies of sea birds on the continent concentrated here. Nearby Cape Meares is an excellent spot for whale watching, and the Cape Meares State Park Scenic Viewpoint is a day use area that includes hiking trails with interpretive panels, picnic areas and a historic lighthouse.

Tierra Del Mar Weather & Climate

The North Coast Region of Oregon has a climate with strong marine influences. Summers are generally cool and winters are moderate. Westerly winds are predominant from the northwest during the summer and from the southwest in the winter. These winds from the ocean bring heavy rainfall in winter and fog in the summer. The Oregon Pacific coastal zone is characterized by wet winters, relatively dry summers and mild temperatures all year. Along the lower elevations on the immediate coast, annual precipitation is between 65 to 90 inches, but on higher elevations on the west slopes, it can be up to 200 inches. Several days of abundant rainfall can cause floods. Snowfall on the coast is minimal. Extreme high or low temperatures are rare.
